Baganara Island Resort

Baganara is one of the 365 islands on the Essequibo River. Your day starts with an exhilarating speedboat ride up to the Essequibo after crossing the Demerara Floating Bridge, and includes brief stops along the river at Fort Island, Shanklands Resort, Bartica and Marshall Falls. Baganara is a single traditional-style house.

The ground floor is open providing a comfortable area to sit and relax. There is a bar and a cook who prepares a surprisingly stylish meal from local ingredients. Upstairs, the five bedrooms have a wide view across the still river waters. The lawn outside is point the point of the island, where the Essequibo splits in two. There is a little gazebo and a long, sandy beach for swimming. At the other end of the island, there is a rainforest trail, carefully signposted. The island has it's own airstrip, alternatively it is a short boat ride from Bartica.
